Soap Remedies

 

Oils:

Castor Oil: Has tremendous moisturizing qualities.

Coconut Oil: Produces a hard soap with generous lather.

Olive Oil: Packed with vitamins, minerals, and proteins, producing a mild, creamy soap with small bubbles. A good emollient (works to retain moisture in skin).

Palm Oil: Makes a creamy, long lasting hard bar. Sunflower Oil: Full of vitamins and minerals, good for all types of skin.

Aloe: Good for chapped skin, eczema and burns.

Avocado Oil: Vitamins and protein, beneficial for dry skin and eczema.

Carrot Root Oil: An antioxidant (regenerates the body’s cell structure to prevent harmful toxins which break down the immune system). Useful for sensitive skin and treatment of eczema and psoriasis.

Cocoa Butter: A great emollient, it is used widely in cosmetics.

Primrose Oil: Good for eczema and helps to prevent premature aging.

Glycerin: Moisturizing

Grapefruit Seed Oil: An antioxidant with antibacterial with deodorizing properties.

Honey: A wonderful emollient.

Jojoba Oil: Moisturizer and humectant (substance that draws moisture from the air to soften skin).

Shea Butter: Moisturizes and nourishes sensitive skin.

Vitamin E Oil: Antioxidant that aids in prevention of wrinkles.

Wheatgerm Oil: Nourishes skin cells and prevents moisture loss. Rich in antioxidants, especially Vitamin E.

Kukui Nut Oil: For sunburned and chapped skin.

Lanolin: Softens skin.

Almond Oil: Softens, soothes, and conditions skin. An excellent emollient.

Apricot Kernel Oil: For prematurely aged and sensitive skin.

 

Herbs and Extracts:

Mustard Powder: Opens and unclogs pores.

Peppermint: Is an antiseptic and insect-repellent. Also good for acne problems.

Tangerine: Antiseptic and soothing qualities. Good for blemishes and acne.

Tea Tree: Strong antiseptic and cleansing properties. Useful for itchy skin, insect bites, and acne.

Ylang-ylang: Universal for most skin types. Particularly useful in shampoo bars and hair rinses because it acts as a tonic and stimulates hair growth.

Patchouli: An antiseptic and is recommended for the relief of acne and eczema. It also combats dandruff.

Marjoram: Useful for greasy skin. Good for feet. Also an antiseptic.

Rosemary: Helps circulation, muscle strain, and depression.

Eucalyptus: Insects and flea repellent. An anti-fungal. Relieves acne.

Citronella: A bug repellent and deodorant. Useful for dogs to reduce fleas.

Camomile: For dry sensitive skin. Relieves acne and dermatitis.

Rosewood: Regenerates the cell tissue. Beneficial for aging skin.

Bergmont: For greasy skin, acne and eczema.

Neroli: For relief of dermatitis.

Ginger: For circulation.

Geranium: Anti-depressant. Good for all skin types and used for relief from eczema and dermatitis.

Lavender: Antiseptic and antibiotic used for greasy and sensitive skin types. Also useful as an insect repellent.

Carrot: For sensitive skin. Recommended for treatment of eczema and psoriasis.
